Be Wise on Mice

Our SCI_114L (animal physiology) instructed by Mr. Facundo Rey M. Ladiao, conducted laboratory experiments   using mice as a test organism. Mice and human genes are nearly similar in structure and function so it is considered as one of the accurate model organism in conducting biological experiments. So, we used these mice to test for proposed experiment to test the effect of gatas-gatas in the mouse system. For us to be successful in the experiment the first thing we did is to learn about how to handle the mice properly that was demonstrated to us by our instructor, before we proceed to the proposed experiment.
Mice are easy to handle but their size makes them vulnerable to physical injury, especially if the handler is not well experienced and dropped the mice that may cause injury to them. To avoid that, the mice should be held by its tail and placed on the surface where it can grasp and attempt to pull away from the opposite direction. The neck should grasp by thumb and forefinger quickly to minimize stress, prevent injury and escaping of. Check the mice if it’s properly handled, if so, the animal is safe and can be examined. Click here for the video on proper handling of mice.
